On August 8, 2010, the Newark African Commission will host its Second Annual “African Diaspora Festival” at Lincoln
Park, Newark, New Jersey. Our goal is to help revitalize the African Culture here in Newark by bringing live cultural
performances right in the heart of Newark at the Newark’s Lincoln Park.

The African Diaspora Festival will be a great opportunity to affirm the legacy of our ancestors by providing Communities
with a full day of Cultural Performances; including Art, Music, Dance, Fashion, Storytelling, Traditional griots and more…

This event will not only revitalize the African Tradition within our Communities, but it will also encourage unity and cultural
integration among our populations. The “All Day Cultural Performance” will bring together Africans and friends of Africa to
celebrate our shared ancestry, history, and spiritual heritage.

This Cultural event will not only revitalize the African Tradition in Newark, but it will also enhance unity and cultural
integration among our populations.

To confirm our appreciation to those who have been working hard to keep the African Culture alive, we will be honoring
some members of our community during the Festival.
The following individuals are among this Year’s honorees: Dr. Zachariah Yamba, former President of Essex County
College; Miss Barbra King, member of the Newark School Board of Education; Dr. Akhil Kokoyi Khalfani, Director of the
Africana Institute at Essex County College; on. Donald Payne, member of United States Congress.

The Commission also collaborates with and assists other civic and private groups in organizing and sponsoring programs
and events. These programs aimed at promoting African Diaspora cultural awareness and encourage the African
Diaspora to become actively involved in the making of policies that promote the overall wellbeing of the African
communities in the U.S. and on the African continent.

We hope that you will join us on Sunday, August 8, 2010 to participate in the “All Day Cultural Extravaganza that will leave
a permanent positive impact on your life.
