CITY OF NEWARK TO CELEBRATE THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE GHANAIAN COMMUNITY WITH
                  FLAG-RAISING CEREMONY AT CITY HALL, FRIDAY, MARCH 4, AT 4:30 P.M.
                    City will celebrate Ghanaian culture, folklore, cuisine, and nation’s 54th anniversary;

Newark, NJ – March 3, 2011 – Deputy Mayor of Neighborhood Engagement Margarita Muñiz, members of the
Newark Municipal Council, the City of Newark’s African Commission, and members of the Ghanaian community will
host a flag-raising ceremony to commemorate the 54th anniversary of the independence of Ghana from the
United Kingdom and celebrate the contributions of the Ghanaian community to Newark on Friday, March 4, at 4:
30 p.m. The ceremony will take place in the Rotunda and on the Steps of City Hall located at 920 Broad Street .

Nana Gyensare VI, the Paramount Chief of Akwamu Traditional Area in Ghana , will attend the ceremony.
